As a kid, I discovered books could change my life and take me places I could only dream of going.  I haunted my local libraries and pestered the librarians for tales of the Wild West.  Nothing was more thrilling to me than the men and women who lived their heroic adventures, then rode into the sunset to live happily-ever-after.

My journey to become a writer started with a dream I had of the Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle one night in the summer of 1982.  It became a reality when I published my first historical romance six years later.  No . . . I didn't sell the first book I ever wrote. That one is sitting on my shelf growing baby spiders. Still, that first book taught me to write and love the craft of writing.  Most of all, it taught me that it takes a lot of persistence, luck, and opportunity to achieve a dream.

Now, nearly twenty years later and almost as many books, I can honestly say that it's not the end of the journey that counts but the fun you have along the way.  I've met wonderful fans. made terrific writing friends, and discovered that there's no better way to live my life than creating tales that celebrate true love.

I hope you find what it is that makes you happiest and follow that dream with everything you are and hope to be.
